Day 1

Kigali to Volcanoes — Scenic Hills and Iby’iwacu

Meet your guide in Kigali and travel north through Rwanda’s cultivated hills, valleys and villages toward Musanze and Volcanoes National Park; the drive is approximately 80 km but varies with traffic and scenic stops.
Stop at Nyirangarama or another suitable point for refreshments and photographs before continuing toward the Virunga foothills.
Check in near Kinigi or Musanze, then visit Iby’iwacu to meet community members and experience traditional music, dance, storytelling, crafts and demonstrations of local livelihoods.
Return to the lodge for dinner. Your guide will explain the early park briefing, clothing and what to carry. Overnight: Volcanoes area. Meal plan: lunch and dinner.
