About the park
Know the
landscape.
Jinja sits on the northern shore of Lake Victoria where the lake flows into the Victoria Nile. It is Uganda’s adventure capital: a place of river scenery, history, boat trips and lively eastern Ugandan culture.
Wildlife
This is a river-and-lake destination rather than a Big Five park. Look for African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, egrets, cormorants and other water and woodland birds around the Nile, Bujagali and Lake Victoria.
Things to do
Visit the Source of the Nile by boat, explore Jinja town, take a sunset cruise, go white-water rafting or kayaking with a licensed operator, and add quad biking, horseback riding, bungee jumping, canoeing, birding or a visit to Itanda Falls.
Planning notes
Jinja works as a half-day stop or a multi-day adventure base. Water activities require operator safety briefings and weather-dependent scheduling. Combine it with Mabira Forest, Ssezibwa Falls or Sipi Falls on an eastern Uganda route.
